Our Staff
The Richmond Center outpatient staff includes the following:

Each licensed mental health provider has at least five years of experience, and most have been in the profession for 15-20 years. They all hold Iowa licenses.

Staff members who provide in-home and in-community services have bachelor degrees in disciplines related to human services. Most of them have been providing services for 3-8 years.

All of the Center's mental health professionals work as a team to serve the needs of it clients and the community. All services are confidential, client-focused, and delivered in a considerate and respectful manner.

Therapy

Dustin Ernberger
Licensed Mental Health Therapist

Dustin joined the Richmond Center in 1999. He serves all ages, utilizing individual, group, and family therapy.

Dustin's special area of expertise:

  • services to children and adolescents.
Before affiliating with the Center, Dustin supervised an adolescent day-treatment program and provided mental health services to children and adolescents in a hospital setting. With a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Iowa, Dustin received his master's in counseling from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. As a Richmond Center therapist, Dustin provides school-based services in Jefferson and serves clients by appointment at the Center's Ames offices.


Kay Lynn Haubrich
Licensed Master of Social Work

Kay Lynn received her Master's of Social Work degree from the University of Iowa in May 2006, and joined the Richmond Center staff in August. She provides individual, couple and family counseling services to clients of all ages concerning the issues of depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, abuse issues and behavioral problems. Kay Lynn provides therapy services at the Richmond Center's Carroll and Boone offices and school-based therapy services at the Carroll High and Middle Schools.

Prior to coming to the Richmond Center, Kay Lynn had experiences in a variety of settings. She worked in the Dual Diagnosis Unit at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, providing treatment to adolescents with behavioral, mental health and alcohol and/or substance abuse issues. She also worked in the Access Center, providing emergency room assessments for clients in need of hospitalization. Other experiences include providing therapy at West Iowa Community Mental Health Center in Denison and Southwest Iowa Community Mental Health Center in Atlantic. She also worked at Des Moines University providing biofeedback training to medical students.


Kathy Kriegler
Licensed Mental Health Counselor

Kathy Kriegler joined the Richmond Center in July 2007. She obtained a Master's Degree in Agency Counseling from the University of Nebraska-Omaha and spent two years training in Adlerian psychotherapy. She has been a licensed mental health counselor and drug/alcohol counselor for 20 years and has worked with pre-adolescents, adolescents and adults in a variety of education and mental health settings. Her clinical experience includes work as a counselor on an inpatient adolescent unit addressing alcohol/drug, mental health and eating disorder issues; 15 years as program coordinator and counselor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center Student Counseling Services; and most recently, she worked as a Senior Therapist at the Iowa Health System Employee Assistance Program.

Kathy enjoys working with individuals and couples utilizing a variety of approaches. She has experience working with issues such as:

  • ADHD (child or adult)
  • depression
  • adults abused as children
  • marital and relationship problems
  • parenting problems
  • gay/lesbian issues
  • grief & loss
  • substance abuse relapse with co-occuring mental disorders
  • adjustment issues in all life stages
Kathy provides services at the Richmond Center's Ames office.


Norm Ostbloom
Licensed Independent Social Worker

Norm Ostbloom provides therapy for individuals, couples, and families.

Norm's areas of expertise include:

  • cognitive-behavioral therapy for treating depression and anxiety disorders, working with adolescents as well as adults
  • couple counseling and family therapy.
  • services in the Ames-based Dual Recovery program.
He has worked with the Center part-time since 1990 and became a full-time member of the therapy staff in 1998. He has provided services in Central Iowa since receiving his master's in social work from the University of Iowa. He serves clients at the Center's Ames office.


Diana Prizgintas
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Diana joined The Richmond Center staff in January of 2009. She works with all age groups and provides individual, couple, family, and group therapy. Her specialties include co-occuring disorders, depression, anxiety, relational and adjustment issues.

Diana received her Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in Los Angeles and recently completed her Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute which is located just outside Santa Barbara.

Prior to coming to The Richmond Center, Diana has worked in a variety of settings. For more than ten years Diana has provided services to adolescent young mothers, at risk youth, chronically mentally ill and homeless adults, victims of domestic violence, and displaced families.


Christine Simmons
Licensed Independent Social Worker

Christine Simmons recieved her Bachelor of Social Work from Iowa State University and master of Social Work from University of Iowa. She is a licensed independent social worker for the State of Iowa and has been practicing in the field for 12 years. She worked for Children and Families of Iowa for one year doing in home family therapy and counseling women in the Domestic Abuse Shelter. Following that she worked for over ten years at the Carroll Regional Counseling Center. She works with teens and adults concerning the issues of depression, anxiety, and abuse issues and is experienced as a generalist in the field.
